Grandparents Corner
And Then What Happened?
Would you like to have some fun and create a special memory with your grandchildren? Here’s a simple activity with unlimited possibilities. All you need is a piece of paper and a pen or pencil (no artistic talent – I can assure you). Either of you begin a drawing - and then take turns adding to the picture, briefly telling your story as you go along. You stop when the story is told (or the paper is full) and then each of you can tell the entire story from the beginning to the end, as elaborately as you like.
My granddaughter Ella and I flew to New Jersey to spend Thanksgiving with some of our family. We ended up being routed through Cleveland to Newark Airport (an adventure according to Ella – who was excited about going to Cleveland – because she had never been there). With a deck of cards, and a pen and notebook – our 9 hour adventure was filled with lots of happy memories. I thank my Aunt Katherine for introducing this activity to us. I’m looking forward to playing it with my other grandchildren very soon.
Idea shared by Katherine Olsen, age 90
I do hope you’ll try this and that you’ll be as blessed as we have been – first Ella and her Great Great Aunt Katherine and then Ella and I on our trip to New Jersey – and lots of other times since then.
Do you have something special - an activity or tradition that you do with your grandchildren that you could share – something other grandparents (and parents) might enjoy doing? Please contact us at: info@SpotlightRichmond.com. Thank you for sharing.
