More Chores!
“Can we earn some extra money for vacation?” Whether you pay your children for chores or not, having a way for them to earn extra money for summer vacation is ideal around our house. I try to keep a list of jobs (sometimes in my head) my children can do besides their regular chores to earn some extra money if they chose. If I’m having company over soon I might put things on the list to help get ready. Or maybe you’ve spent extra time at the pool and haven’t gotten all of “your” chores done – add them to the list. Make sure the jobs are age appropriate. Here are a few ideas:
1-sweep porch
2-pull weeds
3-load/unload dishwasher
4-clean and organize bathroom cabinets
5-clean stair banisters
6-clean all door knobs
7-brush dog
8-wipe off kitchen chairs
9-wipe off kitchen cabinets
10-fold towels/match socks
11-empty trash cans
Whatever you decide, make sure all the children know what is expected and not too difficult for them to accomplish. Of course, if your children are human, they might have a tendency to ask, “Do I get paid for this?” the next time they do a job. I just remind them they do some things just to help out.
